MARCO’S MEMORANDUM

I began a successful career in international risk management working as business consultant for many European banks. But half a year ago I decided to stop my current way of life in order to to let my dream come true. It’s a dream à la Marco Polo, an expedition which will take me around the world…

On 14th December 2008, Marco will begin a cycling expedition from Germany to Vietnam. He will travel over 40 000 km through Europe and Asia, visiting more than 30 countries on his journey.
40 000 kilometres communication
In the era of globalization and, an apparently unlimited, modern communication Marco is in search of different approaches to life and opinions about contemporary issues. He will conduct personal interviews throughout his journey, exploring the diversity of cultures. Therefore we keep on holding this expedition itself and the reactions upon our project and us.
Ad perpetuam memoriam
We will get to know different human histories, views and cultures and let all this grow to a European-Asian Culture Collage. We especially take an interest in the less developed countries, which have only limited or no access to the modern communication devices and are barely or wrongly present in our monetary awareness.

For the second part of the journey after 25 000 km, Marco is going to get accompanied by two team partners with a caravan. We are going to use the caravan’s surface to visualise sayings of our supporters.
We, the project team of 9 young persons from Germany and England, are one part of our international project network. To our network of project supporters belong also project musicians, who provide inspirational music to champion the spirit of this project.
