Hey Ho,
I left Germany and just arriving in Amsterdam (NL) :o)
Regarding previous requests of visitors watching pics of my Night Rides, this ride from Bad Bentheim (German border) to Amsterdam was a night ride of 23 hours distance and I wrote a short documentation.
For this tour I used only a compass for coordination. (I decided not to use my map. It’s always a challenging adventure since I need usually up to 35% longer than using maps).Starting cycling Sunday evening, riding into the night by stars and moon light; in the early morning a deep frog with very high humidity (Everything was wet same impact as rain. Tropical climate?!). Later the morning after 14hrs non-stop riding I became very tired and I decided to stop for 3-4hours and doing some fitness endurance. Crossing the next bigger city, I asked in a public fitness studio for a free ticket. And yes! I got one Directly after 3-4 hours of exhausting fitness endurance I went back to my trik and continued cycling the last 3 hours to Amsterdam. I stay now at my friends’ summer house which I can use for the coming days. Now it’s time asking Dutch citizen about the impact of the financial crisis. Tomorrow I will stay at different bank buildings trying to convince various bank and insurance employees for an interview :o)
As preliminary information, I will cycle on Friday to Utrecht (city 40km South of Amsterdam) staying 3 days to do some interviews with persons of various occupations.
Oh I am tired now .. I feel the missing sleep slowly …I should go to bed …Zzzz.
many greetings from Bad Bentheim. What for a great welcome by the city!
As short documentation of yesterday, some fellow cyclists were cycling with me the last kilometers to Bad Bentheim. Arriving in Bad Bentheim, the press & radio, major and citizen were waiting for me. A strange moment which I have never had before. In fact, I could sign the “The Golden Book” which is a document of the history of the City imprinted by special personalities.
Afterwards, there was a special program about Berlin-Hanoi organised by our project supporter the youth club “Jugendhaus Bad Bentheim”. The program started with Blues singer & songwriter Martin Liening who was singing our new project song “berlin-hanoi blues”. In the following, he was showing his presentation of cycling history of the last 100 years. Afterwards, I was doing a presentation showing some Best Of pics, talking about my cultural adventures the last half year and presenting the first results of my survey about the financial crisis and the future.
Last but not least, the program ended by another Blues band Bluespam playing some great unplugged songs.
It was a great, great event :o)
I won’t forget it. Many thanks to Johann Bardenhorst, manager of “Jugendhaus Bad Bentheim” and his son, Christian Bardenhorst, photographer of yesterday and all others who who had been organising this event.
And as preliminary information, that was not the only event of Jugendhaus Bad Bentheim and Berlin-Hanoi. We are going to plan another celebration when I will be back in Germany :o)
FYI, the video documentation of yesterday will be published soon.
